Spent my last day of 2024 in the place I’m happi Spent my last day of 2024 in the place I’m happiest (on top of a mountain). 2024 has been an incredible year. For the first time in my life, I’m not a student anymore nor do I have any immediate plans to go back to school. Feels weird! Trying to figure out what this blog looks like now that I’m an attorney who is gainfully employed, lol. Hoping to make more health and wellness content in the New Year, both here, on my blog, and elsewhere on the internet. Hoping 2025 brings new discoveries, new rhythms to settle into, and more skiing. Cheers!
Hi from Cambodia 👋 Having the absolute time of Hi from Cambodia 👋 Having the absolute time of my life here. I worked with a Cambodian health and development NGO all through college and I finally got the chance to come out and see what they’ve been up to. Will be writing up details at some point. For now, a cute pic from the eco-resort they run that employs students in their vocational programs to train them for culinary and hospitality careers. 10/10 (and they made me a flower crown!) #cambodiatravel #cambodia

Listen… probiotics CAN HELP some people! However Listen… probiotics CAN HELP some people! However, every now and again I like to log into my affiliate platform to see what people are making on what they sell. And seeing that Seed gives influencers a thirty(?!!) percent commission is absolutely crazy. No wonder they’re 2x the cost of other brands.

Their blend of probiotics is different from those on the market, but there’s no evidence to demonstrate why there’s the markup except for influencer payouts and a cute bottle.

Seed ran a randomized and double blind clinical trial, which concluded in 2022. From a press release, they said they would present results at Digestive Disease Week 2024, but the conference concluded last week and I haven’t been able to find anything about their results.

Trust me- we desperately need research in this area, and I would love to see effective results. If things worked that well and had the evidence to back it up, the product might sell itself! But until then… we will get ANOTHER podcast ad.

And if you still want to spend $55 instead of $25… well, I can get you a link.

Health hack: seeking help from medical professiona Health hack: seeking help from medical professionals! 💪

I am often telling people to go to the doctor when something is wrong rather than Google their problem, but do I take my own advice? Nope 🤪 That is, until recently.

Following a terrible half-marathon in November that had me limping to the finish line, I started going to a running-specific physical therapist and HOLY COW have things gotten so much better. (If you don’t know me, I was a really serious runner until had multiple surgeries/infections on my right foot.) I had been putting up with pain for SO long, and only a few months later, I’m running nearly 20 miles a week pain free. While that’s not necessarily where I want to be, I can see a path to racing once again!

It feels like the rainbow has FINALLY come out after a long storm. (And coincidentally, one did at the end of this run 🌈)
I’m not sure if I’ve gotten onto the bad side I’m not sure if I’ve gotten onto the bad side of the algorithm, but I have seen entirely too many influencers in the last few days talk about getting an hour (!!!) or more without sunscreen to increase Vitamin D. The problem? While there’s tons of evidence to show that the sun can cause large amounts of skin damage, no evidence shows that sunscreen prevents you from getting Vitamin D.
